You have to tell us the actual CODE off the paperwork, it will look like
    p0137, or similar.

DIM could be Sum thing I had for lunch the other day . . .

may or may not give you some ideas.

has the car been in an accident at all?
has anyone hooked up an aftermarket alarm, radio, etc?

because to me it sounds like a loose wire, or a short.

look at scans (middle of the page) from the helm manual. pretty
    straightforward, right?

it would DEFINITELY be worth spending the money on a helm manual (
www.helminc.com ) if you plan on keeping the car. mines a 1998 civic, so
the code diagnostics are likely different. otherwise id try to diagnose
    it for ya.

it's a bad ELD or electronic load detector. it's in the fuse box,
replace it and all will be well

it's the electrical load detector. It's in the underhood fusebox.
Looks like a big copper plate going through a black plastic box that
has a three wire connector going into it. They had some problems with
these. It's a safe bet it's a dealer only item.
