I know this question has come up before...
So, should I get 5W20 or 5W30? I hv not checked the local retail stores yet
(Canadian Tire).. and not sure if they carry 5W20 or W30...

I suppose I don't need to stick to Honda motor oil.... Most brands should do
    the job.. (Quaker, Esso... etc.)

    Any advice?

    thks/

Any good brand oil should be enough. What oil? read your manual or the oil
filler cap, that's what you need to use (and do not ask anyone else, Honda
    knows what's better)

5W20 is becoming more available here in Toronto. The reason Ford and Honda
switched over to 5W20 is to slightly increase the CAFE (Corporate Average
Fuel Economy) rating for a manufacturer's product line. US Federal
Government imposed minimum CAFE standards and in order for companies to keep
selling profitable trucks and SUV's which have bad fuel economy the slightly
ligher weight oil will help to bring the fleet average up slightly.

The increase in fuel economy can't even be noticed in real world driving
conditions. I think that if you use an oil that bears the API (American
Petroleum Institute) logo they cannot void your warranty.

I don't think Honda refines their own oil anyways.

This issue has caused more confusion to the consumer in my opinion.

    Anybody hear otherwise?

    thoughts?

There is no correlation between CAFE for cars and CAFE for
trucks, but you are correct about the CAFE benefit for cars

Now kids, try to behave. >;^)

Actually, 5W20 has been working really well. I was skeptical at first
but try searching this forum for "5W20" to see used oil analysis
    results:
