I'm about to purchase a new 2004 CR-V. Anybody out there know what's New
in 2005 model coming out in a few months?

Got a price of 21,135 for an EX automatic CR-V. Is this a good price?

I've read about the Oil fires, don't this is a big issue for me.

    TIA,, Tim

Wow, it would be a HUGE issue for me. I'm surprised by your lack of
    concern.
The vehicles in question have only been around for a year and a half and
the numbers are just too high for my comfort level. If I were
considering a CRV, I would have changed my mind after reading the
stories, especially that Honda has chosen not to recall/notify the
public. There's too many other vehicles to choose from to take a chance
    on a CRV.

I thought the same way when I considered buying a 6 cyl Accord. The
    tranny trouble nixed the idea.

As I said before, the Oil fires would Not be an issue for me because I
change my own oil and am very good at it.. I have faith that Honda is
addressing the problem and cares a great deal about their reputation as
well as their customers. I did test drive a RAV4 today, it's nice but I
    like CR-V better.

Why bother with a troll. The incidents have been isolated. The mechanics
that change oil usually don't have a clue and
that's why you want to change your own oil and don't trust some grease
monkey. I was pissed the first time they changed oil on my CR-V. I found oil
spilled over the manifold. It was a free oil change, but from now on, I'll
    do it myself.

No you didn't. You said nothing about changing your own oil in the OP
(see copy of your words below). Because of that, some dolt called me a
Troll because I gave an opinion based on limited facts. (What's up with
that? Calling people trolls for a simple opinion?)
I disagree. The stories I've read about their recent troubles and how
they've chosen to handle them have only increased my skepticism about
    their recent commitment to quality.
    Good luck with your decision.

I thought that troll comment was directed at the original poster.

Either way, AFAIC truly trollish behavior is calling people trolls when they
    post legitimate, on-topic discussion.

Sorry for the the confusion here. I am Not a Troll and don't really care
who is or isn't. I subscribed to this newsgroups specifically to get
information about a new CR-V. Let me try again with just these two
    questions..... Thanks!! Tim

  9. Why is everyone busting this guy?

Tim, I don't know whether $21,135 US is a good price for the vehicle,
but my rule of thumb is that dealer cost is 90% of MSRP. Subtract any
dealer rebates (don't think there are any on CRV now) and you have a
target to shoot for. I would think you could get close with the CRVs
    right now.

  10. Likely because a trip to Edmunds, CarsDirect, or whatever, will be a
helluva lot more useful to him than throwing out the question here.

Tim, why don't you access the edmunds.com website and get the invoice
price, MSRP and the TMV (true market value) price for your vehicle?
That should give you an idea of the price range in your market area.
If there is a big difference between dealer quote and the listed price
on the edmunds site, just take a printout to the dealer and start
haggling. Usually works to your advantage.........
