Why did they have to make this so difficult, just to change the wiper
    inserts?

I can change the insert on a GM vehicle (especially if it's equipped
with Anco blades) in about 30 seconds in pitch darkness. On this Civic,
brand new (almost), it became quite a challenge.

Removing the cover shown here was a serious PITA:

You can squeeze those two tabs all you like, but the cover won't pull
    straight out without being pried.

I think the way to go is to warm the cover somehow. I got one off
through various forms of coercion, but the second one broke on me. I
could pretty much feel it happening, but there weren't many options.

Maybe if I left the car in the sunlight for an hour or so, or perhaps
warm up the cover with a hair dryer for about 15 minutes before applying
    force?

Does anyone have any quick tips on how to get these damned little things
    off without breaking them?
