    I have a 1.5 1995 civic that's burning about a quart a week and it looks like
ti's all going through the #3 cylinder. Additionally the engine sounds like the
piston is rocking. Either way I'm considering rebuilding versus buying a junk
yard motor but I read on a couple of web sites the 1.5's don't have enough meat
on the block to over bore and a remanufactured or rebuilt motor would not last
long. I bought this car for the great gas milage so I'm not looking to do a
swap to a beefier or higher performance engine, just looking to keep the car
    reliable.
    Thanks for the input.

You should be able to buy a complete used JDM engine like this for a song. Also,
there are plenty of them around that the engine-swappers have pulled out and
pushed into the corner of the garage. I have a good 1.5 HF motor in my '90 CRX
that will probably be available soon for that same reason. I expect the
engine, transaxle, axles, and gearbox will go for $200 or so.
Check the web forums, search on CRX for a start.
As far as an overbore, no reason that you could not have it sleeved. Even
doing all 4 may not be cost prohibitive. Talk to your local machine shop or
    engine rebuilder.

Does Honda sell oversize pistons? If so, there must be enough cylinder stock
    to go oversize.

The 1.5 motor that is in it really is a dime a dozen... I think the last
one I got for someone cost 300 bucks. I think that they may have came out
of 88-91 JDM civics, but if you strip them down to the long block,
    everything works just fine.

Is it worth the extra bucks to dot he 1.6 VTEC upgrade from the 1.5 non vtec? I
can get the complete motor for 500$ or the VTEC for 900$ local for both...
