A friend has a 1990 Honda Civic with 111100 miles. CV joints were replaced at about 60K due to a torn boot caused by, I am told, driving through deep snow. Since the onset of cold weather there is now a clicking, almost a clank with abrupt takeoff from standstill in first, or when driving on rough surfaces, or when a bump is hit with the front right tire, or with abrupt braking from 45MPH, aprupt but not locking the brakes. With the right front side jacked up, with the wheel not in contact with the ground, I can not shake the wheel hard enough to produce this click. I do not think the CV joint is failing, because I can drive the car in fairly tight circles, on smooth parking lot with no front end noise. Does this appear to be a common problem and is the repair within the ability of a DIYer? Please respond to this group instead of the Email as I almost never check the r2000swler email because of the Spam it has attracted. Thanks, Terry Thanks
