    hi,

my wife filled up gas tank yesterday
headed down road... and the check engine light came on.. shortly thereafter

    she checked the oil... first
it was down to the lower filler dot on the dipstick she said

    so she filled it up
she unscrewed gas cap... and then retightened it

    light continues to stay on

any suggestions? or how to reset ?

    thanks

Well, from what I've read, it may take a few trips for it to reset (if
    it's the gas cap)..

You can find out what codes are stored in your computer by doing this:

On the passenger side, under the glove box on the right side there should
be two connectors, one for connecting a diagnostic computer, and one that
has just two pins.. jumper those two pins (wire, paper clip, whatever)
with the ignition off.. turn the ignition to ON (but don't start car) and
count the number of long flashes and short flashes coming from the Check
Engine light... long flashes indicate 10's, short ones 1's ... example, 4
    long + 2 short = error code 42..

Make sure to jumper the plug with only two pins on it, as jumpering
anything on that data link connection would probably screw something up..
Perhaps someone can enlighten you as to what color the connector is .. I
think in my 91 Civic it's blue.

Sounds like you want to go a shop and have them plug the
car into the computer and check for Oxygen Senors.

    They are EXPENSIVE.

For an Civic they are about $175 and $215 each plus labor.

what would it have to do with the oxygen sensor? MAYBE after he reads his
    error codes...
for now it is only low oil pressure and loose gas tank cap.
