1997 Honda CR-V. Left wheel squeaks while braking

I will appreciate any feedback on this.

I have a 1997 Honda CR-V with about 108000 miles. My left front brake
squeaks and make a noise when I brake. Also I feel a drag while
turning left. While normal driving there is a squeaking sound as well
    from left front wheel.

I have had this problem for a long time which keeps coming back after
a few months. I have my car services at 2 Honda dealers and Meineke in
past 2 years. They have replaced my brake pads and rotors but the
    problem keeps creeping back.

-- I can't say about the higher pitched squeek, but is there a lower
groan when you turn sharply, like parallel parking? You said you felt a
'drag'. Is it accompanied by a skrunchy moan?

You didn't mention if it's an AWD version, or an automatic. How many
times have you changed the rear diff fluid? Tell us more.

    Curly -
Yes, there is a groan when I turn left even with normal turns. Could
it be brakes brushing against the wheel or something else? When I
brake the sound produced is cyclical something like "squeak...squeak
    squeak...squeak...squeak"

It is real time AWD (I guess that means automatic?). My rear
differential fluid was changed with every major service. How difficult
is it to change the same?My brakes and rotors are new. Someone
remarked that I may have hit the wheel hard against curb or something,
but I am not sure what it may have done.

Last time the mechanic (at a big Honda dealership in VA) said he was
not sure what it is. They changed brakes pads and rotors...it worked
for sometime, came back after about 3 months...opened and put it
together (did not change anything)....and it came back again in a
    month.

    Thanks

    batchrunner,

I'm not the best person to ask about brake problems. I wonder if it's a
shot wheel bearing or a bent disc guard. That's all that comes to me :-(

Except, if you have alloys, you should (remove and) inspect the left
front wheel VERY carefully to be sure there isn't a hairline crack from
hitting the curb. I almost bought a used set of wheels recently but we
washed them off with soap and water and found that one was cracked.

  5. I thinking either shims slipping around in there or the
caliper body is not bolted down. First look for scratch
marks on the rim then on the mud flap then on caliper
    body and etc.

    It could be dirt!!!

I have had the problem myself, where you are driving and all of a sudden you
begin to squeak. And it does take a long time somethimes to get rid of the
    squeaking.

The other option to look at is the CV joint. They sound like brakes going
bad and feel the same as well.

    good luck
