1998 V6 Accord Coupe. Single Disc OEM in-dash. Never a problem.
Then, gradually in retrospect, the CD player won't play. Just an
attempt, 5-20 seconds of silence while trying then No Disc (I think it
says that). Radio is fine. Typical? I think so. Recommendations?
    thank guys.

been playing home-burned CDs? supposedly that is harder on the laser and
    optical pickup.

id recommend a cleaning disc, and/or blowing some compressed air in
there. if not, start shopping ebat for another one, or upgrade.

"harder on the laser and optical pickup"? Seems unlikely. These parts are
not in contact with the CDs, are they?

I know some players just flat won't play home-burned CDs, even though they
will play commercial CDs. I don't think that has anything with wear and
    tear.

Reading between the lines, that doesn't seem to be the situation the OP is
    describing.

It was always moody about CD-r's but the mood varied depending on
burner/speed/media/etc. But, no, when this started (best memory) it
    didn't matter if was CD-r or not. Actually I play store-bought CD's
    75% of the time. Thanks.
