My 110k miles 98' Accord EX would not start yesterday morning after sitting
in my driveway over the evening. The car clicked several times and would not
turn over. I called AAA to jump start me and the car started immediately. I
let it run for 1/2 hour and then shut the car off. The next day I go to
start it again and no clicks, no nothing. I called AAA again and then had a
tow service send it to the Honda dealer. They're closed today so no answers
    yet.

Does this sound like an alternator problem? starter? Other? The battery is
my second (not original) so I think it still has much juice.

Any idea what a Honda dealer might charge me for an alternator, including
    labor?

how old? sometimes batteries go bad. leave any lights on? power drain
    from anything?
theyll need to dignose it first. start it, hook up a voltmeter, check
the charging system. my 98 civic still has the original battery.

Hopefully just a bad battery or connection.

v-6? it's an alternator. did you happen to hear the tell tale
whistling noise over the last few weeks? i hear it in traffic all the
    time. it's the first sign.

  5. Careful here. The intakes that kids put on there cars these
days also make a whistling sound under acceleration.

If you have a ton of stereo stuff in the car, then yes, the
alternator won't sufficiently keep the battery charged.

Put the battery on a charger. If it doesn't charge, that's the
prob. If it charges nicely and keeps the charge, then get an
    alternator.

If you need help, I have a guy that will build 150amp alt. for
you, from an OEM Honda, $295.00. Reply here if you need the
    info.

lordy, lordy. what kind of back room dealing was involved in that? they
sell the sweet v6 to saturn for the vue, and in return they get crap
    alternators?

i think i have a delphi battery in my 98... its OEM and kinda starting
to show the first signs of weakness, barely. so at least they make ok
batteries, unless theyre rebranded johnson controls, or exide.
