1999 CRV: Does manual shift handle twist off?

Discussion in 'CR-V' started by Thomas G. Marshall, Dec 16, 2004.

  1. Simple question, I hope.

It doesn't seem to want to give in to gentle tugging, and the leather cowl
seems to be latched in a non-twisty way that my eclipse didn't do.

So do I just yank this sucker CCW to take off? (looking down---normal bolt
    threads?).

  2. That's what the Haynes says - "Unscrew the shift lever knob." The
accompanying picture shows the top of the shift lever with threads, and also
shows the boot pulling up and off, if you need to do that.

  4. Michael Pardee coughed up:

I have haynes, and could not find that part to save my life. I really am
very bad at reading these things.

    Thank you.

  6. Glad to help. The Haynes manuals are not very well organized and often leave
out a lot, but that's all I have for this. I found it in Section 7A, part 4.
