    Hi,

The fan (for heater and ac) sounds like it's working fine, on full it roars,
but very little (almost no) airflow from the vents. The airflow changes
direction when I move it from face to demist, etc, so I think the control is
working ok. The sound changes when I change the external / recirc switch, so
I think this is also working, although when I do this it doesn't increase
the airflow. I've seen cars with blocked cabin filters before, but these are
normally only on the outside, so going to recirc increases the flow to
    normal.

Does the cabin filter in this car in the loop for both recirc and fresh?
That would explain it maybe. Or is it something else? Where is the cabin
    filter on these?

    Many thanks.

To get to the cabin air filter, you remove the glove box and the glove
box frame. Then you remove the filter lid from the evaporator, then
pull out the lower A/C filter assembly and upper A/C filter assembly
    in that order.

Thanks, it was the first bit (removing the golve box) I had a problem with,
I removed all visible screws, the glove box was loose, but did not seem to
want to come away from the car??

I had the same problem with my `02 Camry ...after removing and
cleaning the cabin air filter (without reinstalling ) I had the same
    problem.

I stuck my hand into the fan housing and lo and behold ? it was
clogged with dog hair. (the fan impeller) This was enough to cause
loss of air to the vents and also to make an unusual noise.(Apart from
    the usual fan noise)

After removal of the detritus , I tried the fan without the filter and
it was just fine .Then I re-installed the cabin filter and all was
    well.

My suggestion ? Check the fan impeller/housing for any detritus that
the fiter nerver caught.this MAY be causing your problem.

    Hope this helps /
