We're looking at buying a 2000 crv. How are they on gas? this one has 130K.
Seems nice enough. We drove it and I thought the noise from the tires was
quite loud. I hope it was the tires. I coasted in neutral and it was just as
loud. Could it have anything to do with the transmission recall? how can we
tell? Is there a way to tell if the timing belt has been changed if we have
no records with the car? Do they get broken into easily for air bags, etc?
Any info would be appreciated Thanks.

    Mine 2001....21 city 25 hwy.

    There is some road noise.

Timing belt? best to have it changed, negotiate that in the price.

    Air bags , ? I'de say no.

Nice all around transportation car, never had to take it back whikle in
    warranty for problems.

Since you're in Canada, and those are Kilometers, the timing belt is
overdue, but you can run the VIN thru any dealer and find out where it
was sold, and ask the vendor to prove it's been changed.

Demand $500 CAN off if they can't prove it, then get it done ASAP at a
good foreign car shop that does Hondas.

Tires are noisy, you're right. Do tight u-turns to prove if rear
differential has been services regularly, (low, moaning if Dual Pump
Fluid needs a change) and listen for tick, tick of CV joints. Have valve
adjustment done ASAP as well if it's over 50,000 km since last time. Try
to get some more dollar$ off for that.

I have a 2001 model with 35,000 mi and absolutely no problems whatsoever.
Seems I here they are built very well and you shouldn't have any issues
either if it was properly taken care of.
They get around 20mpg around town.....around 24 or 25 on the
    highway.....sometimes more..sometimes less....just depends on your driving
style. I'd recommend anyone purchase one though. Tire selection is an
issue with noise..thats for sure. I'm still on my stock BF Goodrich Touring
TA's....a decent tire that I hear are quieter than the other OEM tires of
Bridgestone mfg. Good luck on your purchase.
