    Hello everyone,

I am thinking about buying a 2001 Honda Prelude with 13,000 miles on it.
Does anyone know if this model year has any known quirks or defects? Are
parts easy to get for Preludes?

    Thank you,

I have a Black 2001 Prelude Type SH. Bought it new in Dec. 2000. I
have about 46,000 miles on it and the worst problem I have had was a flat
tire. Nothing has gone wrong yet. Parts for it is still easy to get. Just
call the dealership and you should have no trouble getting parts still. One
drawback...the rumor that it rides rough on the interstate is true. Top
    speed is right at 143.

My opinion, buy it. I am 21 and I love mine.

Douglas sounds like a great car but if you wanna make 22 best not run her
out at 143 too many times. If you were nabbed for speeding you could sign
you life over to an insurance company if you haven't already. They hit you
young dudes damn hard, I know. I have a niece that pays 4 grand a year to
drive a beater due to and accicdent and multiple speeding violations..

Only topped her out twice. I share your concern with the insurance thing
    though.

hehe. not even 150? sheesh! my 2k daewoo lanos (modded of course) only puts
out 190hp, but i can zoom past 150 to about 165... only done that on a
closed track (DONT STREET RACE.. ITS NOT WORTH LOOSING YOUR CAR AND
LICENSE). in texas, if youre caught racing like that, they take you to jail,
suspend your license, and tow your car, and lock you up for 6 months, no
questions asked. if you must speed, go to a closed track. also consider
modding that prelude. im considering dropping a 2k prelude motor in my
    daewoo :D

Do you know what the city and highway gas mileage is on this car?

What's the biggest difference between the regular Prelude and the Type SH?

You should join the Air Force and get stationed in Germany where going
that fast is safer due to drivers who don't stay in the fast lane, AND
they don't have cops looking for revenue. I know, I took an SL230 for
a drive to Stuttgart (Porche and Mercedes museums) and Luxembourg.
That's the only good thing about living in a socialist country.
Everyone pays so much in taxes that extra road taxes/fees are a moot
    point.

  8. The biggest difference is that Type SH uses Honda's Active Torque
Transfer System. Which is an electronic type of limited slip differential.
There are a few trim differences (i.e. wheels) but other than the ATTS the
    cars are mechanically the same.

Okay, people, that's my wife up there that made the original post. We went
to pick up the 2001 Prelude today. We bought it from a guy who had to sell
his Acura NSX and the Prelude to make ends meet. It has 13,2000
(ridiculously low for that model year in my opinion), it has been garaged
all the time, and it cost us $16,100. Every thing on the car is immaculate.
The engine is ultra clean and has been using Mobil 1 for 6,000 miles
according to the guy. Everything is original. The only thing I worry about
is the battery, since batteries have a planned lifetime. Hopefully it will
start giving me indications that it needs replaced so that I can get an
Optima sealed battery for it. I drove it home 50 miles, and it drives
    flawlessly.

I hope we didn't pay too much.

with aem cold air intake, carsound high flow cat, tanabe cat-back exhaust,
and 5 speed tranny i got my 2000 'lude to 159MPH. with a 75 wet shot of
nitrous i'd estimate, based on the tach, 180 rather easily.

closed highway, of course. street racing/speeding is stupid.... don't do
    it....
