2002 Odessey Transmission slipping

My wife made mention this morning of the car hesitating. While driveing it
in just a short while this afternoon, it happened to me twice. The first
seemed like a hesitation, but the second time it lagged so long (about 2 - 3
seconds) it felt more like the transmmission slipping (as if in neutral).
Anyone else had similar experience? Any ideas (other than take it to
Dealer)? Warranty is over as the van has 45K miles.

  2. Let me tell you, with the transmission troubles Honda has had I wouldn't
hesitate to tell my dealer to make whatever arrangements they have to
make, but fix my car--and I'm not paying for it.

It's entirely unreasonable for this kind of thing to occur; had I wanted
these problems, I'd have saved myself $10,000 and bought a Chrysler.

Seriously. Honda will fix this, but you have to ask the dealership to
    get the zone guy involved.

This could also be the EGR problem that Honda has or remotely possibly the
    belt tensioner problem

I just received new extended transmission warranty from Honda on my 99 . Perhaps
yours is in the same situation.

Honda is aware that they have a tranny problem and are doing
their best to take care of their customers that experience a
problem. Not all of the effected cars are still owned by the
original purchaser of record. Honda may not know the current
owner, if previous owners do not return the notification if they
no longer own the vehicle. IWS if one has a problem they first
go to a dealership before some aftermarket repaid facility.
There vehicle may be covered by the warranty extension.

Just out of curiosity, was that a '99 Odyssey? Did you receive an
official notice or a new transmission? The original press release
from Honda dated September 2002 made mention only of 2000-2001 Odys,
Accords, and Preludes along with a bunch of CLs and TLs.

I would love to hear that American Honda officially extended your '99
warranty, and hopefully my '99 Accord EX V6 along with it since I am
already on my third tranny in 77,000 miles.

  7. Yes, they did. If you can, go to hondacars.com and register for the
Honda Ownerlink. Use your VIN, and it will tell you all about any
recalls or courtesy warranties on your car.

    Yes, it's an 99 ody.
I got the extended warranty American Honda. It came in the envelops similar to what
you get for all the recalls. :)
