Can anyone shed some light on the procedure for changing the cabin air
filter on a '02 Odyssey. After completely removing the glove box I'm still
left with a substantial metal support across the filter slot which prevents
removal of the filter! Does the whole unit have to be dropped out of the
dash? Or am I missing something obvious here?

Check out these instructions @ Puralator web site:
    http://ecat.arvinmeritor.com/smartlink/?partnum=C45459
    http://www.pureoil.com/ProductFinder.aspx?action=AS
(I have a 2000 Accord, and instructions appear to be similar - removing
    the metal support is required).
    Good luck.

Like the instructions say, you'll have to use a hacksaw or good diagonal
cutters to remove the plastic brace (if nobody has ever changed the
filter . .Phew) It's only there to strengthen the dash while it was
    assembled.

That's not a metal support; that's a plastic support that gets snipped
    out.
