Hello. I have a '03 Accord with about 26,000 miles. One morning last
week, when I started the car I immediately noticed that the Cd/
radio/clock was not lit up and also some of the a/c controls as well.
The surrounding sound system buttons are not lit either. The dealer said
they will have to order a new radio which will take about 3 weeks.
    Anybody else have this problem?
    Thanks.

It's a known problem. The fix is a new audio unit but it shouldn't take 3
weeks to get one. Call your zone office and see if they can have the dealer
get one sooner. Turnaround should be less than a week.

I also had this problem, and the dealer did replace the radio under
    warranty.

However, my next question is: If it is a known problem, is the replacement
radio likely to exhibit the same problem in another 2 years or so, or has
there been a design change so I can expect the display on the replacement to
    last for awhile?

    Thanks,
    Carl

I have the same problem. In fact, this the second time I'm having this
problem. First it happened at about 20,000 miles, and now its happened
again at 42,000 miles. The dealer ordered me yet another radio.

There is a service bulletin about this problem that you should be aware
of: 04-027 It says that Honda should replace your radio unit, and that
they should cover the cost, even if your warrenty expired.

I just wish I know what actually caused this condition in the first
place (bad power supply, bad leds, etc)
