2003 Civic LX - New $14k

Discussion in 'Civic' started by Jose Montanez, Aug 14, 2003.

  1. I just bought a brand new 2003 Civic LX Automatic for $14,000. Just
wondering how good a deal this really was considering its almost end
    of 2003.

I was planning on buying the 2004 Corolla LE, and the best price I had
on that was $15,200. Then I visited Honda and they originally wanted
$15,600, then $14,600 till finally I got it for $14 even. Looks like
the Civic has better ratings than the Corolla anyways and I felt more
    comfortable in the Honda.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

IMO, you should have gone with the Corolla LE 2004 or wait for the Civic
2004. 1200$ is almost nothing compared to a one-year depreciation. It is a
    false saving.

  7. Strange... edmunds.com lists a much smaller difference between the used
prices of 2002 versus 2001 Civics. Note that much of the "first year new
car depreciation" is bid-ask spread -- most people can only buy a new car
at dealer retail prices, while they can only sell a car at trade-in or
    private-party prices.

  8. I guess I would agree with you, but only if I don't keep the car for
atleast 7 years. I plan to keep it for 10 (if it lasts that long).

I just sold my 1995 Nissan 200sx for 3K (which I bought for 12K in
    96).

tried to squeeze a little more out of the guy. Darn!

I hate being a spic...I think I'll dye my hair blond, change my name
and maybe next time i can get the car for $13k instead of $14k.

    Thanks for the enlightenment ;-)
