    hi,
i bought a 2003 honda accord lx coupe in may and noticed that in the
last 2-3 months there is some noise coming from the area on top of the
cd player, around the dashboard, sort of a rattling noise. i'm having
it looked at later next week, didn't really get time before, but is
this a common problem? no idea where it came from, it rattles a lot
lately, especially when the car is stopped at a light. also is there
any way for me to find out if the warantee covers the speakers in my
car, the rear right one seems to be humming a lot.

    Thanks.

Depending on what the noise is... all vehicle emits some kinds of noise but
rattling noise is probably not normal. When you take it in to the
dealership to have it looked at, tell them about the speaker at the same
time. If it's the factory stereo system, factory speaker that came with the
car it's covered under standard 3 years 36K miles warranty.

My 2003 Accord has had several PITB rattles. One area they come from is the
sun visor. The sound from a rattling visor can seem to be coming from the
dash. Try moving the visor when the noise is happening and see if it
    changes.

My Accord has had more interior buzz and rattle problems than any of the
last five cars I've bought ... none of which were Japanese cars reputed to
    have amazing quality.

The dealer has been useless about this as well.

  4. Most rattles require a bit of "Mcguivering" to fix, but in all cases I have
had the best success only when the customer has roadtested with me at the
time of drop-off and duplicated the noise. (I'm not really psychic). Ask for
this when you make your appointment, and allow plenty of time.

Try to pin down road conditions, speeds, things you push on to make the
noise go away prior to bringing the car in.

I have seen no difference in quality between the JHM OR 1HG vehicles. This
hasn't been a real issue since 1997 or so.

Don't dump multiple rattles on the tech to try and fix all at once.

Don't take the tech on a super long roadtest as he is paid by the flat rate
    hour. Let him drive.

If you cant duplicate the noise..don't leave it that day.

Give them plenty of time to work on it.

DON'T bring it in if it even smells like rain or bad weather. (can't hear
    anything but the rain)

    Remember...Honda mechanics like dounuts.

  6. I have the exact same rattle. It is definately coming from the radio
because if I press down on it the noise goes away. I was planning to have
this checked when I brink it in for the next oil change. If you find out
anything about what is causing this let me know and I will do likewise.

The 2003 Honda Accords sold in USA are not Japanese, either. Every major
component on the car except the transmission is North America sourced. The
engine and final assembly are from Ohio.

I have a 2004 and the rattle and internal noise problems seem to be fixed.

    hi,
thank you all for the responses, as soon as find out what it is i'll
let you know, for those interested, i'm pretty sure it's the same
problem as the Mr. Allison wrote, the noise seems to only stop when i
put my hand on the dash right about the cd player, but then once i let
go it starts again. i'll see what they say next week when i take it
    and let you know.

Not exactly correct. When I purchased my '03 Accord *all* of the 4cyl
models on the dealer lot where assembled in Japan whilst *all* of the V6s
were assembled in Ohio. This was one dealer at one point in time, but it
certainly is true that a substantial number of US sold Accords are built in
    Japan.

incase anyone was wondering, i got my car checked the and noise they
said was coming because of a loose part around the stereo area, sorry
i don't remember the exact words, but they mentioned something was
loose under that area and all they had to do was tighten it.
