Does anyone know where the oil filter for a 2003 CRV is located? I tried
looking underneath the vehicle, but I can't seem to find it. I have never
owned a Honda before, so I am unfamiliar to where the filter is. Also, the
owner's manual says you need a special wrench?

I've changed the oil a million times on my GMC and Plymouth vans, but this
one has me stumped. Also, why does Honda have their own odd oil: 5W20?
Why couldn't they use 5w30 like everybody else?

Please reply to the newsgroups. Last time I used my real name I received,
and still continue to receive virus spam!

    Thanks

In order to report slightly better MPG numbers. Ford and a few others do it
    too nowadays.

The Civic Hybrid uses 0w20. Find that on the shelf at Kragen.
On the other hand, the oil change interval is suggested at 10,000, with a
filter at 20,000. At 10,000 the oil was beginning to darken.

Rear of the engine, under the intake manifold. It is impossible to see
unless you run the front up on ramps and peer up between the steering rack,
    driveshafts, firewall, etc.

Socket type. Anything else will be a major pain and you will probably end
up damaging the pressure sender, which is right next to the filter.

This site has a nice, clear pic of the rear of the B20 block:

    Integra B18 is the same.

Communist...er...government...CAFE regulations. Every 1/10 of an mpg is
significant for meeting CAFE regs. 5W-30 is fine.

  5. Nope. The intake manifold is on the front of this engine.
The 2003 CR-V has the K-Series engine. I haven't looked at one closely but
ISTR that someone previously mentioned that the filter is on the rear
    passenger side of the block.
