    Hello all,

I want to have an automatic starter installed into my Oddessy. 2 installers
wont do it becuase of the ingition chip key, they say it will effect the
computer by giving it a false code and may cuase a problem.
    Is this true?
Will this a cause a void in warranty?

    Thanks,

    Dave-

call your dealer, if you add an aftermarket starter and it fucks your
computer, more then likely honda will not cover it, i would contact honda
and ask them, then you'll know for sure

it will set "a code" which they charge you $30-$90 to erase the code.

it will not set a code!! remote start with immobilizer will require
you to bury a key under the dash somewhere. which defeats the whole
premise of the immobilizer, but it will work fine with no codes set.
i've put in a bunch of these on various vehicles

    Chip-

What do you mean by bury a key and defeats the immobilizer?

    Thanks,

to get remote start to work you will have to put a programmed key
under the dash or in the column, it's the only way to do it with
    immobilizer.

Just curious, but I'm wondering what is the range of the transponder key?
Could it be placed anywhere in the car's interior?

has to be near the ignition cylinder. most kits come with a little box
to put the key in and then you wrap a wire from the box around the
cylinder. i've been known to cut the key apart and just glue the chip
to the cylinder. sounds half-assed but so is defeating the whole
    security feature.

I have a 2003 Ody EXL-RES, and Chip is correct; my installer had to bury a
key behind the dash in order for the vehicle to "think" there's a key in the
ignition. Without it, it won't start. The only downer is that these keys
with the computer chip in them are expensive; mine was about $55 USD.
