    Hello:

Great newsgroup; have sure learned a lot.

Re 2004 Accord LX, 6 Cyl..:

    a. Saw several posts, including on the Honda site, regarding a transmission
recall, but can't get a really
clear picture of what the "potential" problem, or existing problem,
    really is.

Might someone please offer some in depth details about what is really
    going on with this ?
    How significant, etc. ?

    b. Have there been paint problems with this 2004 model, or previous years ?
How significant ? If so, all parts of the country ?

    Details on ?

    Thanks,
    Bob

  2. Either your car is under recall, or it is not. If it's not, don't worry
about it. Go to Honda's web site and sign up for their OwnerLink. With
the VIN, it will tell you everything.

there may be a problem with countershaft second gear, the update is
to install a jet kit to spray ATF on that gear. ther's been a few
isolated cases where the gear overheated, lost it's temper and
    started to chip.
as for the paint, what problem do you have?

    To Chip:

    Thanks for reply & info.

Re paint; Will be installing an XM radio satellite receivers aerial
inside the car, on the dashboard. Aerial will be partially 'blocked"
by the 1" approx dotted black band around the window glass edge.

Was wondering if this black band with dots uses metallic paint in any
    way,
or is just regular non-metallic paint ?

If so, will have to find a different spot for aerial.

shouldn't hurt it, the pilot xm antenna goes on the front dash at
the window, the accord goes on the rear package tray. don't make it
    final until tested.
also metallic tint will kill xm, we've had a few we had to do
an aftermarket antenna on the trunk lid.
