    Hello:

My son just purchased a new 2004 Acord LX, 6 cyl.

As I'm not in his area, I can't confirm a complaint he has, so
I thought I'd post here, and see if anyone else has any thoughts or comments
    on this:

He believes the headlights intensity is very deficient, and the road
illumination way under previous cars he's driven.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob

  2. Generally this is because the headlamps have never been adjusted properly in
the first place, or have been hit out of whack or something.

The first thing I would do is aim them properly per the service manual
    procedure whatever that may be.

Many people complain about headlight brightness and aside from proper
adjustment the only other feasible option is a set of white fog lights. Not
driving lights which are to only be used for long distances and with high
beams but white fog lights which cast a shorter but wider beam of light to
work in conjunction with the low beam lamps.

High wattage bulbs are usually not recommended. I have used them myself and
all they seem to do is cause an overheating of the plug and wires unless it
    is relayed properly.

  3. I have a 2003 Accord and I thought the lights were very bright at
night. When you turn on the high beams, it lights right from 90
degrees out to the side of the car, all the way up front. Lights up
    everything nicely.

    Your welcome,
    Jody

Is this with the headlight switch on, or are you running with DRL only?

I am happy with the lights on my '03 which leads me to believe that
there is something misaligned or not working properly on your son's
car. The dealer should be able to correct the problem pretty quickly,
    I would think.

I've wondered a bit at the headlights on my new Accord EX. I think
that what appears as less illumination is actually better aimed light,
and the fact that you can't really see the nose of your own car.

Less light bounces back off the bumper of the car in front of me, but
lights aren't supposed to shine there (and into the eyes of oncoming
drivers or into the rearview mirrors of the car in front), but down
onto the road. I think something like that is going on.
