If you were buying a new Honda would you get the Accord or the Civic and
    why?

Accord for a more performance oriented ride.
Civic for economy and better space up front.

My son has had his '99 Civic EX coupe for 7 months. It's a very cool
car, any kid's dream car. But, he's already ready to sell it and get a
'99 Accord 4 door 6 cyl. He wants more room, leather, and the larger
engine, along with the upgrade to the overall interior's look.

I bought a 2003 Civic Hybrid. Next year the choice would include an
Accord, since it was a Hybrid that I wanted.

    I don't like the Accord. I don't like the exterior design, I don't like
the interior layout, and it seems that the Civic has more space than the
    Accord, which doesn't make sense.

If the Accord had been Hybrid, and not the Civic, I would not have
    purchased a Honda.

I was only looking at four door sedans.

Accord over the Civic, no question.

I bought a 2004 Civic. My wife drives a '99 Accord. It all depends
on what you want the car for. I use mine for a daily driver to work.
40 miles round-trip. I normally drive it with no passengers but have
4 kids so I got the sedan LX. It has AC, airbags, power everything,
CD player. I'm not sure what the extra $ for an Accord would have
bought me for what I wanted the car for. The only "upgrade" I have
planned for it is to have the windows tinted at a local shop that has
a great reputation. I bought the Civic instead of the Accord because
it cost less and the Accord has nothing extra that I could justify the
    cost for.

the accord is a larger car, and more money. it really depends on if you
want a larger car. my vote would be for the Civic. the reliability is
    the same on both models.

I've owned both. The Accord has more room inside, has more oomph, sits a
little higher. The Civic has slightly better gas mileage, and makes more
sense if you live in an urban area.

Accord. More comfortable and likely safer in a crash.

Civic coupe in addition to several other car that was able to get 5 star
crash rating from all sides (front, back, side). I don't think the Accord was
    rated as high.

  11. Just one thing here: the Accord is more up-scale than the Civic; if you
really want to make the comparison based principally on size but with
similar levels of finish/trim/price, I'd say compare the Accord with the
Acura RSX. It might make it even more difficult to decide but to me it's a
    fairer comparison.
