I've been shopping for an Accord and have found a demo with 4k miles. It is
the EX V6, loaded with everything including the navigation and voice
commands. I have talked the dealer down to 25800.00. Edmonds reports the TMV
at 26565.00 Is there room for more talking or should I bite at this price?

  2. What is wrong with you?

According to carsdirect.com, you can buy a brand spanking new one for the same
    price!

You should pay more than $22K for a used one.

4k miles never titled - technically it is new. You show me where to get the
same car for 22k and I'll buy it and give you 3k difference.

Although a 2003, we bought the same car in Phoenix last June for
$25,295 brand new. Picked it up the day after it was unloaded from
the truck. MSRP at the time was $28,260. There is only $78
difference in invoice price between the 2003 and 2004. I would want
at least $2K under what I paid for the 4,000 miles when you have no
idea how it was driven. Adding in destination charge on a new one, I
think about $24K would be fair.

    2004 EX V6 (no navigation) purchased 2/27/04 for $24,300. 24 miles on
    the odo.

Don't get suckered on a demo. The dealer will sell you on the "great
deal on the demo" b.s., when in fact you can usually count on getting
a brand new one for the same money.

.... and a brand-new one hasn't been beaten to death in 'test' drives.

I've done my homework and the cheapest I can get the same car is
$28,768.00 out the door - tax and all - If anyone here knows of a better
deal - tell me. I will have a 6% sales tax.

This car I can get out the door for $26,898.00

Using the above two numbers - If I buy both cars, drive them off the lot,
    what are they worth now?

Either way you take a beating on new-car depreciation. If you only keep you
cars for 3-5yrs it's worth grabbing the less expensive car. If you plan on
keeping the car for 8-10yrs I'd have to suggest the unmolested car.

I'd have to get a hell of a deal when a new one is only a few thousand
more. I value buying "brand new". How I look at it is 4k miles is
not new unless you drove those miles, or know who did.

OP, just get a new one unless they knock off several thousand. First,
go to another lot and pretend like you want to buy a new one. You
    always need leverage.

It was a demo model - why should you care if the car is "technically"
new when it's a barganing chip to knock down the price. After all, how
many people have already driven it?

Um, try a different dealer? For that money, try a different CAR. Go
    get a G35 if you're going to pay $29,000.

Seriously, if Accords are really going for that in your area, I'd shop
elsewhere and drive it back. I got a killer deal on a '90 Integra
with a one-hour plane trip. I negotiated the price over the phone,
flew down on a Saturday and drove it home, saving over $2,000.

  15. Where do you live? because here in CA. (Los Angeles) you can't go a block
without seeing a new accord. Granted, the coupes are not as popular as the
sedans, but still. I'm thinking of traveling out of state to get mine, and
    drive it back here
