2004 Honda Accord w/ side-curtain airbags?

Discussion in 'Accord' started by jose flanigan, Oct 29, 2003.

  1. I'm interested in a 2004 Honda Accord w/ side-curtain airbags. I am
trying to find out what option package is mandatory with side-curtain
airbags. Usually, you just can't pick and choose the options you want.
They make you buy certain options even if all you're interested in are
    the side-curtain airbags.

Does anybody know where I can find out this information? I tried
talking to the dealer, but that went nowhere.

    Thanks in advance.

Side curtain is standard in the EX V6 only. It's not available in others.
Others have the standard side airbags w/o curtain (optional on 2.3 LX, N/A on
    the DX).

This was true in 2003. NOT 2004. In 2004, side curtain airbags was added
to all leather trimmed EX models. I have one comming in next week
without the V6, leather trim, with side curtin airbags.

That sounds like a US Car Buyer mentality.
The Hondas don't seem to tie options to other options that way. They have
smaller bundles of options that are easy to see, and no tricks.

pick any one of the "starting at" links on the left, and you'll see side
airbags as options on most models, standard on some.
The side-curtain is a $300 option available on the EX models.

There is a price quote thing that you can use. I used it, but I can't
remember if its one of the "send it in and we'll get back to you" types.
Andersondirect.com has poor prices, but you can definitely pick out the
options and build a price there.

There is another factor. Canadian version of EXV6 does not have curtain
airbags either. I did not check it for 2004 but for 2003 it is the fact.

A segment on CNN the other day told that Honda was going to start putting
all their safety features on all cars, regardless of option level or model.
Be patient and wait a while--maybe that's why the dealer doesn't have
anything to say at this point in time.

According to the reports, Honda will be phasing in these new features,
preferably at redesign time. I don't believe that they're going to
start offering them mid model year, so you won't see this change in
the Accord until the 2005 model year or later.

Anyway, I doubt that the change will affect 2004 models.
