Let's not forget the Renault Alliance. Yew! That's one I'd like to forget.

The SI is going to be tough to find as I understand from my local dealer.
It is limited production comprising something less than 5% of total Civic
production. Our local dealer has one coming in in mid Jan and then another
in late March -- both sold. If you want to put a deposit down now you are
looking at June/Jul next year. The RSX S is more available. However, as the
owner of an 01 Prelude I am simply going to hang onto what I have and be
happy. In fact our local dealer has 3 2005 S2000s on the lot..... so maybe.

I do tend to throw the Prelude around like I used to when I autocrossed
years ago. I agree, the Prelude has a better suspension and is (from the
pix of the SI) a better looking car. The SI ought outperform the Prelude --
at least 0-60 but maybe not at top end. I really can't think of a step up
    unless I get into a S2000.

  5. Honestly, if I had been given more than three friggin' days to get a
new car (unless I wanted to pay for a rental myself), I would have
shopped for a Prelude. I was a big fan of the lavender one.

  6. I looked at 'em, and at 5'3" I'm not sure *I* would have fit.

Strange. That C6 is one hot commodity. There seems to be more then usual on
the mean streets of Toronto. I guess in other parts, it's not doing as
well... Perhaps, one day when I win the Lotto, I'll get myself one. (Unless
Honda comes out with a coupe version of the S2000 with a more spacious
    cockpit).

The wishbone suspension is why I loved my '96 Civic.... until my eldest son
totaled it.... a very sad day.

  9. Just like the Oscars, Tonys, Emmys, etc. Only good for that year's product.

  10. Gee, the Porsche 911 series had McPherson struts up front for years
(starting when they were first shown in 1963 and still have them for all
I know). IMHO the 911's are regarded as handling pretty well.

  11. Really? Hm, I've always liked small cars.

I was thinking about this and maybe it is because the struts are short
travel in the Civic AND have to be extra stiff because of all the
engine/tranny weight. The Porsche 911, on the other hand, has a very light
front end since the engine and transaxle are in the back.

  13. Could be, I have no understanding of the details of these things.

  14. About 20 years ago someone routinely parked a Renault in my neighborhood
with "Le Piece of Shit" stenciled on its doors. I laughed every time I
saw it (which was pretty often).
