It appears that the new 2006 Civic DX does NOT have A/C.

    Is that possible?

  2. That's normal. NO Civic DX has had A/C installed at the factory. Ever.

That's a holdover from long ago, when even Accord DX and LX didn't have
factory installed A/C. Time goes on, and Honda has decided to install
A/C in many more models at the factory--but the Civic DX, being the
price leader, still gets no factory AC.

I think everything else does by now.

Of course, the dealer can add the A/C, no problem. It's the same as
what they do at the factory. So if you're worried about not being able
to have A/C, don't worry about it. It's probably $1100 or so to buy and
have installed. If you do it at the time of purchase, the system gets
the same warranty coverage as the rest of the car.

Think about it: a DX buyer is a penny-pincher by definition, for
whatever reason, and he's trying to get the maximum Honda engineering
for his buck. Honda lets him choose whether to pay the $1100 or not.
And he's happy having that choice.

If a DX is $11,000, then $1100 is TEN PERCENT of the price of the car.
    That's a BUNCH.
