7500 mile oil change

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Crow Without Wings, Aug 26, 2003.

  1. Our mechanic, who has been wonderful for 10 years, said that the 7500
applied to "normal driving conditions" but that those normal
conditions exist almost nowhere. Here in Minnesota, he said to stay
with 3000 for our '01 Accord 6-cyl unless went with the synthetic oil.

  2. Note in your owner's manual that Canadian drivers should stick with the
severe maintenance schedule, period, no matter how they drive.

    I think Minnesota counts. ;-)

  3. Your mechanic is right--3000 miles is always the best policy.

It's generally not a good idea to use words like "always" & "never" in
such circumstances because they tend to lead to fights.

Neither you nor the mechanic have a clue what you are talking about.
Typical of these newsgroups. I suppose Honda has some reason to dream
    up the 7500 mile figure?
