Hi, Im looking at a 1984 (tag says 9/84) civic hatchback at a wrecker for
$400.......not running. 191,xxx original kilometers, auto, good
body/interior (Id rate it 90/100) no rust anywhere. New exhaust, tires, not
a mark on any glass, original seats are almost perfect.Overall great
condition, looks to may have been garage stored.
They let me put a battery in and turn it over, it has spark, Either the
starter was weak/not working right or the engine may have been seized
because it really labored to turn over or else just clicked. So Im looking
at this as needing the motor replaced.
I know some people who work at other auto wreckers and can probably get a
running 1.5 crx engine for $200. I know I can do a motor swap but the
question is, is it a drop fit to the tranny and are the cv's the same
length? Should I use a crx trans. too?
I know if this car was cleaned up a bit and running I could resell it for
$1k in my area. With the 1.5L engine it would be a much better car, it it
depends on how much work or customizing it would need.

    any responses appreciated
