86 Accord Tranny Problem (automatic)

    HI,

    Just bought an '86 Accord LX. It has only got 120,000 on the engine,
    but I'm starting to have problems with the transmission. First, it was
    difficult to shift from Park to Drive or Reverse (felt sludgy, as if
    fighting resistance). Now, in addition, when I put it in Reverse or
    Drive, it won't go back into Park. After I let the car roll forward,
    it shifted into Park, no problem.

    The tranny fluid smells and looks fine and there are no shavings in it.
    The throttle cable was a bit loose and i tightened that, but nothing
    changes. I hope it's just something simple but not really sure what to
    do next. Any help would be appreciated.
