Just inherited an 88 Civic which runs well, starts easy, doesn't
smoke, and has no apparent leak. However when your sitting in it there
is low rumble very much like leaning against a washing machine with an
out of balance load. Motor mount? Any ideas would be appreciated.

  2. can you feel it, or just hear it?
if you mostly hear it, I wonder if it could be an exhaust problem.
if you can feel it, then yeah, I'd guess motor or tranny mount. Does it
change at higher RPMs? if it's idling kind of low (below 600, maybe below
    700) then I wouldn't be surprised if there is some noticeable vibration,
that I wouldn't worry much about.
