I recently replaced both drive axles on my 88 Civic SE and I was
wondering if I should get a front end alignment. Is it standard
practice to get a frond end alignment after replacing the drive axles?
Prior to the new axles, the car drove fairly straight and there was a
little free play in the steering. After I replaced the axles, steering
remained pretty much the same with a little more free play (the extra
free play could just be in my head).

    TIA,
    Curt

The Free Play as you describe it could be worn Outer tie rod ends or a rack
and pinnon problem. any alignment shop will do an Alignment Check, May
include a road test a visual tire and front end inspection.

Older Civic has double wishbone front end suspension. There is no need for
    an alignment after shock change.
