There is some problem in the ignition switch that prevents your turning
the key to the locked position. It is not a key problem. A new
origional key has same problem. Usually, if you turn the key counter
clockwise VERY slowly while pushing in, it will lock. Then the key can
be removed. If it is going to lock, you will hear a small "tink" sound
just as the key turns. If you don't hear the "tink" it dosen't lock.
Inserting the key and turning clockwise to start is no problem. I
tried taking the whole mess apart to the point where the manual said
"remove the twe small screws and remove the lock". Two of us looked
for moe than a hour and could not find any small screws. Anyone have
    an idea?? Thanks

Try jiggling the steering wheel with one hand as you attempt to remove the
    key from the ignition.
    That always works for me.

Possibly the transmission linkage requires adjusting by your dealer?

I had a very similar problem after the Honda dealer installed a new
transmission. Returned it to them, and they had it adjusted in a
matter of minutes. No problems since.

I had the very same problem and the solution is simple.
There is a switch , I forgot the exact name, attached to the
automatic shifter (inside the shifter assembly) which senses the
position of the handle and releases the key only when in Parking position.
In my case there was no witness light showing the position
(gear) and first occured in the winter then no problem
for a while then it went dead as I could not remove the key no more
You can buy that part from any Honda dealer and install it yourself.
