I'm looking for some door speakers for a 91 Accord Sedan. Crutchfield lists
    them
as 5" and they don't carry any 5" speakers. What have others installed?

That's funny. I have checked Crutchfield more than once and I was
given 6.5", same as the rear. I also have a '91 Accord Sedan.

The LX on Crutchfield.com says 6.5" but the EX says 5". I have an EX, is
    Crutchfield right?
Would an LX and EX have different speaker sizes?

Used 6.5 BostonAcoustics in my '91 DX both in front and rear. Both
sets use Honda speaker enclosures. Rears enclosures purchased from
    Honda dealer parts.

Yes they would. Apparently the EX and SE have an enclosure around the
speaker designed to enhance bass response in the doors. They can,
however, be removed to accomodate 6.5" s. This is not firsthand
    knowledge, only Web research.

  6. This is first hand.
Yup. My 91 EX-R has tiny speakers in the doors, but they have freakin'
    *ducted* enclosures!

    Yank'em and put in 6.5's.

Cool! Thanks for all the replies. Any suggestions on 6.5's to put in the
    doors?

This depends on your power requirements, of course. Some will laugh me
off the group. But I was merely replacing stock speakers on a stock
head unit, which I happen to think sounds great for my needs. I used
Blaupunkt P652c 6.5s, which are available for a song if you look
around even a little bit, and they fit like a glove. They are rated
20W RMS, 40W peak, which is why some people may scoff. Whatever you
get, use the Metra 72-7800 Honda/Acura speaker harness adapter
(available at Best Buy or Crutchfield) and it will be a completely
    painless installation.
