91 Honda Civic trunk wont lock ???

  1. Hey I just got a 1991 Honda Civic 4dr Sedan and the trunk lock wont close.
Know any where online I can buy a trunk lock ? Maybe I should get a keyless
    power trunk lock ?
This is my Civics only problem so I want to keep it, the car has 88,000
miles on it and looks really good, plus I only paid $1800 for it.

look at the trunk and look at where the trunk lock hits when it closes..
then take a screw driver and move the parts of the lock that closes when
it is suppose to lock... bet its either already closed so when you slam
the trunk it cannot lock due to the lock mechanism already in the locked
position????? use your key to open it and then try it or manually close
the mechanism by hand and see if it will open with the key????
probably just needs a good cleaning and some grease.....

  3. Tried it...the part of the lock that must strike the bottom latch(the ring
thingy) will not meet no matter how much I try to adjust them. The lock
    itself allso looks bent.

A 4-door 1991 Honda Civic LX trunk lock goes for about $31 (not including
    shipping) at
    http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/catdisplay.jsp

Let us know if you got the old one off and re-installation looks easy. :)
    Sounds very promising. Enjoy.
