Saw a post earlier with this same problem. The poster thought the shift
cable needed lubed. I don't think this is the problem. The shift lever can
be moved from and into park, but it takes a huge amount of effort. I have
checked the shift interlock solenoid and the shift mechanism, both are free
and working properly. When disconnected from the shift lever the cable seems
to be free untill just before it reaches the park position. Does this
transmission have a history of problems with the park pawl? (Does it even
use one?) I have worked on Ford and Chevy transmissions, but never a Honda.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mike
