I've recently bought a 92 Prelude Si, all stock, with no modifications. It
is a 5 speed manual. For about a week now, when I turn the car on, I
noticed a sort of metal scraping or bad squeaking sound coming from the
engine. The noise is coming somewhere from the right side of the engine.

When I press on the gas, the noise gets louder, then gets quiet again as the
rpm's drop. It only makes the noise when the engine has had time to cool,
like sitting in the driveway overnight. Once the engine has warmed up to
normal temperature, it stops making the sound when I start the car.

I think it might be a bad belt or gear, or possibly a piston rubbing against
the engine, but I truly have no clue what it is.

Also, my rear right tire makes a loud, whirring noise as it spins at low
speeds. At higher speeds, the sound stops and the car sounds normal. I was
told it might be a bad barring in the wheel. All of the tires have about
1/3 tread left and have no damage.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated in helping me solve my
problems. If you need any more info on the car, just let me know and I'll
    fill you in ASAP.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Sounds like an idler pulley bearing (relatively easy fix)
or an A/C cltuch bearing. Doe the noise stop or change a lot when you turn the
A?C on? If so, it's probably the A/C clutch, which on the front of the
compressor. If that is it, you may be able to remove the belt, provided it
does not drive anything else. Then you have till next summer to get it fixed.

Sounds like a wheel bearing, but it could possible be a bad tire. To check, swap
the rear tires left to right and see if the sound goes with the tire.
While it's jacked up, spin the tire and see if it makes noise. Compare it to the
    other side.
If it's a wheel bearing it's a pretty easy fix, can be done with hand tools
    and about $35 in parts.

It's not a bad tire. I just recently had my tires rotated and it still
    makes the noise.
It was making the noise without the A/C on.

Thanks a lot for the info!
