    Hi

I have a Honda Civic with 235,000 miles. No engine problems yet. What
should I expect? I change the oil every 3,000 miles faithfully. The
car needs some repairs in other areas - should I do them or think of
scrapping the car at this point in its life?

    Thanks,
    JJ

    JJ,
Keep driving it as long as you don't have to replace the engine or
transmission. In addition, if your engine needs to be "rebuilt"--junk it
or sell it "as is" via a classified ad. I once saw a car dealer that
advertised this slogan--I've seen it repeated by other car dealers over
the years: "We will give you $1000.00 for your car regardless of its
condition". They showed 3 people pushing an old car that was about 30
years old (and missing the doors) on the television ad.
You may want to take up some dealer on such an advertisment--but only if
you like the new cars they sell.
