Is it possible / worth swapping the auto tranny in my '94 Accord to a 5
    speed?

I know this is commonly done in an H22 swap, but can I do the tranny only?
I'm not looking to race the beast - I just want a manual shift.

    Thanks.... Glenn

I was considering doing the same to my 94 Accord EXR about 2-3 years
ago, and the cheapest I found it could have been done was about
CAD$4-5k. Hardly worth the money back then when the car was still worth
CAD$10k. Today, when it is worth at the most CAD$7k, you would have to
invest about half of its value into the conversion. And the interesting
part is that an Accord with an auto transmission is worth more than one
with a manual one, so you would lose money there too.

I just drove the Accord with the auto transmission untill two months ago
when I traded it in for a 01 Prelude SE with manual transmission.

You were getting ripped off... A whole engine swap doesn't cost that much!

You are looking at a couple of grand though, and it just isn't worth the
hassle. I'd sell it and buy what you really want...

I never bothered getting a real quote from a mechanic willing to do the
job. I did talk to the mechanic that always maintained my Accord, and
CAD$4-5k was the rough cost he gave me, and told me it's definitely not
worth the money. Since he always did a great job, and was consistently
twice (or more) cheaper than a Honda dealer, I trusted him enough to
take his word on this one.

Even if it is only CAD$2k, it's still about CAD$2k too much in my
opinion, since he can always sell his auto Accord and buy a manual one
for the same amount of money (if not less).

Thank for the opinions guys... my mechanic told me I could get the H22 swap
w 5 speed for around 3k. I'll check into this a little more

If this is close to the truth, I'll probably go that route. I know it's a
lot of money for a '94, but I'd have a hard time letting this one go. I'm
kind of attached to it, and I'm not using it as my daily driver much
    longer... more of a project.

    Thanks again !
