I recently bought a 94 Accord EX from a person I work with. She sold it
to me for $1300.00 it also came with all the paperwork dating back to
2002. I live in Utah, recently it's been getting really cold, the temps
at night are dropping to below zero. In the mornings I like to go start
my car and warm it up before I drive it. Usually I give it about 15
minutes. Anyway, the transmission has been shifting hard since I've
owned it. I recently bought some fluid at the auto store to help it
    shift better. It' helped dramatically.

My problem though is, in the mornings, when it's so cold, it will not
shift. I have to place the shifter into the 1 position then to 2 and
eventually into 4th. The other issue is on occasion, the 2nd gear will
slip when shifting into 3rd gear. This happens on occasion, normally
when it's running at operating temperature, it shifts fine. I was
looking through some of the posts on here, I did see something about a
loose "throttle Pressure cable", "Shift Control Solenoid Valves" and a
    fluid change.

I usually like to let my car warm up before I go anywhere, is there
anyone who knows or has had similar problems? If so, Im interested in
what was done to remedy the situation. I really love this car, it's
taken me to southern CA up into the Northern area and back here to Salt
Lake. I also saw that the transmission was replaced with a used
transmission back in January 2002, at the time the odometer read 141k
miles. The car now has 197k miles. Any help or info would be greatly
    appreciated! Thanks

It's got non-Honda ATF in it, and you've added a non-Honda additive to
'correct' the first mistake. You need to get an Owner's Manual for the
Accord. The tranny will have to be drained and filled three times with
Honda Z1 ATF. You can actually do it yourself if you're game. Don't warm
up the engine, just drive it. It's in the manual.

Don't neglect your Honda, especially the tranny. Fill the radiator
reservoir to the MAX mark too, and check it often.

Times like these I'm glad I drive an older (87) MT Accord... top up with 10W30
and drive. Drain and refill every so often. No hassles, no worries. I pee on
    "progress" :)
