95 Accrod - Power Antenna when playing Tape ???

    I have a 95 Honda Accord with the original Honda radio/tape.
    What I don't understand is that the power antenna extends even if I am
    just playing cassette tape. I remember that with my old Camry its
    power antenna only extends when I turn on the radio and stays down
    when I am just playing tape. Am I missing something here or it is
    normal ?...

    If you have RDS and AF (auto-frequency) or TA (traffic
    announcement) turned on, then it needs to keep the aerial up.
    Just turn these functions off and the aerial *should* drop.
