96-2000 Civic Stock Wheelcovers: Question RE Lugnuts & Cover Attachment

We have a '98 Civic CX, which came with the standard bare wheels (no
wheelcovers). We purchased a set of OEM Honda wheelcovers after purchasing
the car (identical to the covers which came stock with DX models of that
year). Try as we might, it seems impossible to attach the covers.

Question: Are the wheelcovers standard on the DX, EX, etc. models attached
with different lugs (i.e. with retaining clips or something of that nature)?
We can get the covers nearly on, but there seems to be no way to securely
attach them to the wheel itself. What are we missing?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    J

Yes, you need 16 new lug nuts to hold the covers on.

Do they have flanges on them that the stock lugs don't?

The new lug nuts (for the wheelcovers) will have a black plastic ring
attached to them. When you take the old lug nuts off the wheel, put the
new ones over the wheelcovers and the black plastic rings hold the
    wheelcovers in place.
