I argued yesterday with my car for 4 hours trying to get that stereo under
the dash (to retain my keyless entry and dome light) and couldn't figure
out ANY way to stick it under there to where i could easily plug the 12v
power outlet (cig lighter) back in and get the lower dash panel back in
    place.

Can someone tell me EXACTLY where to put it? and in what position?

Or.. Has anyone attempted splicing all the wires involved and extending
them to say.. under the passenger seat? It'd be pretty easy with the stereo
harness, but that green "keyless / security" plug looks like a toughie..

    What are my options here?

    Thanks!

Been there, done that. It's challenging, particularly with that 12v outlet
there. I eventually got it to work. The faceplate of the radio sticks up
(make sure it's off) and leans slightly forward, IIRC. It might be useful
to have someone help you with the job and keeping the wires out of the way.
Also, this doc might help you:

I missed this question...if you buy a nice T-harness (I think mine came from
Metra), you should have enough wire there to do the "tuck." I would
    definitely advise against splicing wires.

i have the t-harness.. i was just wondering if i could make the wires
longer to place this stereo under the passenger seat..

i managed to get it crammed in there today, but the power outlet plug
doesn't reach, so i made an extension (using spade connectors.. quick-
disconnect crimp ends.. whatever they're called) and it keeps blowing the
fuse (i'm assuming cause the end of the outlet is crammed up against the
radio which is pushing my connectors together.. or something, i dunno..
i'll have to figure it out.
