97 Civix defrost question

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by MinnesotaMike, Oct 25, 2006.

  1. My Civic does not get any air through the dash vents. What can I check?
I can hear the air blowing, but nothing is coming out. I don't see
any obstructions in the vent opening. The air does come out the side
vents, just not to the windshield. Any thoughts? Short of tearing the
dash apart to get to the vents. Thanks.

you may need to buy a haynes honda civic repair manual. theyre about $15 at
an autoparts store and find out how to take out the hearter/air conditioner
control out of the dash and see if something popped out of place back in the
dash. maybe the plastic duct thing going to the defrost vents is out of
place or your heater control is bad. more likely it would be the heater
    control.

If you close both of the side vents, do you get lots of air from the
windshield vents? My CR-V needs to have them closed or there's very
little air to the windshield. .

Does your owner's manual suggest this?

  4. Jeff,

Thanks for the response. I have the car going to the shop Monday to be
looked at, as far as the heat part. It heats up slow. I'll look
tomorrow to see if I can find any vent problems. We've done some stereo
replacements, so maybe something happened then.

  5. Curly,

I did try closing the side vents. Unfortunately, hardly a change in the
amount of air going to the dash. Tomorrow, I should be able to take a
look under the dash to see if anything came loose.
