'98 Accord tranny problem?

    Hello,

    I've got a '98 Accord (automatic, 4-banger) that is my wife's daily
driver, and lately it's developed a strange problem. When driving along
at cruising speed (>50 mph) it seems to slow down rapidly when you let
off the gas. Almost as though the emergency brake was lightly engaged.
There are no strange sounds or other behaviors and it doesn't do this at
    lower speeds.

I did notice that if I'm driving at about 60 mph or so on a flat surface
and not accelerating, if I take my foot off the gas the RPMs do not
immediately drop. The engine speed seems to be locked to the vehicle
speed. I seem to recall that normal behavior for an automatic would be
for the RPMs to drop when the driver lays off the gas.

What could cause this behavior? The transmission is actually new and
still under warranty (Honda replaced it about 10K miles ago), so I'm
hoping that it's a defective tranny. However, I'm afraid that this
sounds more like something is wrong with the lockup torque converter.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thank you in advance.
