Just junked my old Jetta and bought a used 98 Civic HB DX with 50k
miles. Seems to run great but since this is my first Honda, im worried
about the auto transmission since it shifts funny? Basically when the
tranny shifts between gears say from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, I can hear the
rpm rev up for about a half second during the shifts. Like driving a 5
speed and not letting off the gas during each shift.

So this normal or something to worry about?

    TIA!

If it's flaring between shifts, your transmission will be fried in a very
short while. Make sure the throttle cable (going to the transmission) is
tight enough. It's better to have hard shifts than occasional slipping
between shifts. All Hondas that I know off shift harsh.

    Merry Christmas,
