I can't find the manual nor can I find it on the net.

What is the mileage for timing belt change for a 98 Civic HX? Something
    like 105,000?

    What about spark plugs?

    According to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

Timing Belt Replacement: Every 90,000 miles or 72 months (1996 and
older) - Every 105,000 miles or 84 months (1997 and newer)

What do you know about spark plugs?

I bought some new ones at about 35,000.
In attempting to install them, I got confused as
to which were new and which were old. I think
I was able to put the original back in, but it was
    hard to tell.

Al, go to Honda's website and click on the owner's link. register you car
there. You'll have access to the manufacturers suggested maintenance
    schedule.

    That's what I did.
