i was installing a new stereo in my car and i touched the dimmer switch and
the positive battery lead together and shorted out my lights. i checked
all the fuses and all are fine. also, i checked all the bulbs in the
instrument cluster and they are fine. i am pretty sure it is the dimmer
switch that went bad, because the odometer lights up when the lights are
off, but as soon as i turn the headlight switch on all of the power goes
out. Does anyone know if the dimmer switch is replaceable on a 98 honda
accord EX. I thought about buying a new instrument cluster but that was
    our of desperation

The switch is replaceable, though you 'might' have to do some soldering.
