Howzit group. I've recently been given free of charge a 1994 Accord LX
2dr coupe (auto)in excellent shape. Only problem with the car is that it
has a blown head gasket. The engine I believe to be a F22B2 (non VTEC).
I know it's worth the money to redo the engine, but if I wanted to go
high performance later on is this a good engine to mod? If not, are
there other engines that will drop in to the engine compartment without
major modifications? Being new to Hondas I've looked a little on the net
but didn't find too much mod info on this motor.

    Thanks!

To fix a blown head gasket, try Steel Seal.

Personally, I'd replace the gasket itself. instructions on how to do it
should be in the relevent haynes manual.about the only "non-standard" tool
    you'll need will be a torque-wrench.
First time I ever drove in the Us was 3 years ago, in SF. Had a dodge
minivan (rental). one of my co-workers wanted it to pick some stuff up from
the prop store, so I got his mustang. the minivan was quicker. (especailly
at the dangerous opint where you get on the Bay brige frmo Treasure/yerba
buena island going back to SF. You also know that the fastest production
fords aren't ever sold in the US. UK/Europe has for the last 20 years, been
getting the fastest ones, uusally cosworth versiosn os the Sierra (countour
size) Escort, and posibly the Focus. Certainly the RS2000 versions are as
    quick as the mustard GT.

Another hint, I've learnt. If you want to be able to turn fast (and stay in
control) never buy a car you can't also get in europe (europeans won't buy a
car that handles bad, and comapnies won't sell a car they know no-one will
    buy)

Thanks for the tip. I checked out the product that was mentioned. Looks
ok, but I think I'll test it out in a car that isn't in such excellent
shape (POS car). I'll freshen up the head at the shop and change the gasket.

What was I thinking? Can't beat V8 power.

As for the twisties, I've always had a hard on for Volkswagens: GTI's,
Rabbits, etc. Only the motors can be a little troublesome.

well, the gt I'd belive that of, but a mustang cobra is a pretty fast car...
and I don't know of too many 4 cyl cars that can beat it unless they are
    just over the top.

if you modified it with even half the stuff you put on a daewoo to beat a GT
you would have tons of hp...

also nice fish tanks, the mystery blue and white stripped fish is called
pseudotropheus elongatus, it is from lake malwai.

Howzit right back to ya, Fish!

You have several choices. You can reinstall an origional F22B2 engine_which
will take a computer changeout. You can install a single OHC VTEC, F22B1
engine. Will need to changeout the computer and run three new wires from
computer to VTEC solenoid on engine. You can get exotic and install one of
the dual OHC VTEC H22 engines_will need to changeout the computer and
exhaust manifold. The engine supports should lineup exactly for whichever
    version you choose.

Would suggest you contact several of the JDM engine companies for the
replacement engine. Will find much cheaper and engines are very reliable.
